In keeping with BIS Computer Solution, Inc.’s commitment to provide the Law and Justice Communities with leading edge information management technologies, BIS is pleased to provide its Photo Imaging Computer Solution - PICS. PICS enables agencies to interactively capture a photo image of a person or a crime scene and enter the pertinent data associated with it into the computer in one easy step. PICS provides complete and transparent integration with all BIS Law and Justice products.
In jails, BIS’ orca2000+CMS Corrections Management System and the integrated PICS combine to replace the current manual mug shot process utilized in many jails across the country. With a camera and a PICS image capture and booking workstation, the inmate’s photo is snapped and permanently linked with the booking record. In addition, a hardcopy of the inmate’s picture is printed. Anyone throughout the agency can have on-line computerized access to the inmate’s picture and associated jail record through a single inquiry and all on a single display screen.
In a Law Enforcement ID Bureau the storage, management and retrieval of hundreds of criminal suspect photos can be a nightmare. PICS solves this problem. PICS enables agency personnel to scan the photos into the orca2000+RMS Records Management System database for use in crime analysis, suspect ID’s or computerized photo line ups. PICS allows access to these photo images through photo ID numbers, person names, crime report numbers or ad-hoc inquiry by suspect description.
In Courts, document archiving, reproduction and management is made easier with PICS. Any document including crime reports, citations, summons and complaints, warrants, evidence tags, etc. can be scanned into PICS or RMS database and automatically linked with the computerized “electronic record”. When performing an inquiry, the PICS user has the ability to access the information in numerous ways and view the electronic record on the - and, if desired, the paper record can be reproduced “as is” with the touch of a button.
Crime analysis can be greatly enhanced with PICS. The system provides users with the ability to merge video crime scene images or still photo images with the crime report record maintained by orca200+RMS. A detective can view not only all of the data associated with the crime report but also view the actual crime scene through a single PICS inquiry workstation.
The low cost of PICS and the anticipated benefits can be easily justified due to an immediate reduction in the cost of photo processing. During a jail booking, the capture and reproduction of crime scene photos, or the manpower currently required to manually research large quantities of photos to identify the “right one(s)” all add up to an immediate return on your long term investment.
Inexpensive, efficient, and definitely effective, BIS is proud to offer this product in a stand-alone or integrated mode.
